National Exhibition Month at Parker Charter Essential School
The Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School, a CES Small Schools Project Mentor School in Devens, Massachusetts was National Exhibition Month’s first stop in 2008. 55 Parker seniors unveiled the culmination of their academic careers thus far in the presence of a panel of evaluators, peers, students, and visitors.
The Boston Globe visited last week, and reporter Taryn Plumb wrote up the experience in “Students soar with ‘essential questions’,” which appeared in the Globe’s May 11 edition.
National Exhibition Month’s featured activities also include:
Clover Park High School, Lakewood, WA, May 21 12th graders present their senior project exhibitions and 10th graders present exhibitions on school-wide themes at each of three small schools at the Clover Park Campus.
Amy Biehl High School, Albuquerque, NM, May 23 Sophomore students present their Humanities Exhibitions on the question, “What is Patriotism?” to panels of community members.
New England Symposium on Performance Assessment, Providence, RI, May 28 State policymakers and school officials from across New England will gather to learn about performance assessments and to explore Rhode Island’s inclusion of them in its Diploma System, with attention paid to the resulting impact throughout the region.
